Davis, Calif.— Taylor Chan won her fifth floor title of the season and had another solid night of performances to lead the San José State women's gymnastics team to a 193.250 Friday night in a meet at UC Davis.
Chan recorded her fifth 9.900 on floor this season to tie for first place. She had a career-best 39.250 in the all-around to finish second. Chan added a 9.825 on beam, tied her season-best on vault at 9.775 and had a 9.750 on bars.
Carli Orcutt competed in the all-around for the first time this season, adding beam for the first time this season, and scored a 38.500. She had a 9.725 on vault, 9.700 on bars, 9.625 on floor and 9.450 on beam.
San José State started the meet on bars with a 48.225, led by Stephanie Relova and Nikki Duggan at 9.775. The vault team had a 48.300, led by Chan's 9.775. The floor team had the team's best score at 48.575, led by Chan at 9.900 and Josalyn Ray at 9.775. The beam team rounded at the scoring with a 48.150, with Chan again leading the team at 9.825 and Chelsey Andrada at 9.750.
"Taylor had another solid meet for us tonight, and I am proud of the way she is anchoring this team," said Spartan head coach Joanne Bowers. "Carli did all-around for the first time all year and gave us a much needed score on beam.
"We are just struggling right now with being consistent day-to-day and meet-to-meet. We are continually talked and working to improve and look forward to showing improvement next week."
UC Davis won the meet with a 195.050, led by Kelley Hebert who won the all-around with a 39.325 and tied Chan on floor at 9.900.
San José State continues on the road next week, traveling to Seattle Pacific for a meet on March 1, at 7 p.m.
