Spartans A Solid Sixth At CSCAA National Invitational

Cleveland, Ohio ----- For the second consecutive year, the San Jose State University women's swimming team posted a top-10 finish at the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational Championships.

With consistent and top performing relay teams throughout the three-day meet at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium, the Spartans finished sixth in the 400 freestyle relay, the final event of the championships, and sixth in the team standings of 57 Division I squads.

"We had another tremendous day to finish up post-season and conclude one of our best years in program history," said Spartans women's swimming and diving head coach Sage Hopkins, whose team was fifth in the same meet a year ago.

"I put all three seniors (Brenna Bushey, Taylor Lehr and Kendal Guy) on our final relay together and it was a very special to have them conclude their swimming careers together.

"All three of our seniors etched their names in program history. Their leadership in the pool, weight room and classroom will be greatly missed."

Bushey, Lehr, Guy and Gabby Heng posted a time of 3:22.76.

Heng was the Spartans' top individual event finisher on the final night. She placed 15th in the 100 freestyle. Lehr scored points for San Jose State with her 16th place finish in the 100 individual medley.
