Spartans Score Season-Best 194.450 at Cal Quad Meet Sunday

Berkeley, Calif.— The theme of the day was season bests for the San José State women's gymnastics team scored a season-high 194.450 at a quad meet hosted by California on Sunday afternoon at Haas Pavilion.
 
The Spartans finished third at the meet with the 194.450, as Cal won with a 197.575, followed by Illinois at 196.175. Sacramento State finished fourth at 192.100.
 
San José State scored season-bests in the second and third rotations on the floor and vault. The floor team scored a season-best 49.000 with three scores of 9.800 or better. Taylor Chan led the team with a 9.875, followed by Jasmine Henley and Stephanie Relova who tied their season best at 9.800. Chelsey Andrada had a 9.775, Josalyn Ray had a 9.750 and Antonia Marquez scored an 8.850.
 
Onto vault in the third round, the Spartans had the second consecutive season best, this time a 48.650. Chelsey Andrada and Taylor Chan (season best) each scored a 9.850 led lead the team. Josalyn Ray tied her career high with a 9.825. Marquez had a career-high 9.675, while Madilyn Probst and Trisha Raquel each scored a 9.450.
 
The Spartans scored a 48.250 on the beam and a 48.550 on bars. Andrada led the team on beam with a 9.775, while Kaprece Nadonza had a team-high 9.775 on bars.
 
Chan had a 39.200 in the all-round, her eighth 39.000 or better this season in the all-around.
 
San José State now travels to Seattle this weekend for the 2019 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnastics Championship meet Saturday night at 6 p.m. The Spartans enter the meet as the two-time defending champions.
