Spartans Shut Out Hawaii Pacific, 4-0, For Third Win In A Row

Honolulu, Hawaii ----- San Jose State University posted its first dual match shutout of the season defeating Hawaii Pacific University, 4-0, in a non-conference women's tennis match.

The victory for the Spartans (7-4) was their third in a row.

For the second consecutive match, San Jose State took a lead into the six singles matches by winning the doubles point. The pairs of Miyo Kobayashi and Alba Pedrero Galindoo at #2 and Tamara Culibrk and Klara Milojkovic at #3 each won their matches by identical 6-4 scores.

The win for Kobayashi moved her into second place on the San Jose State career list with 140. She trails Spartan career leader and former teammate Marie Klocker who won 142 matches in her four seasons as a Spartan.

"The key today was getting the doubles point heading into singles play," said San Jose State head coach Chad Skorpuka, who kept his doubles pairs in tact from the 4-3 win over College of Charleston on March 20.

The Spartans clinched the match with three straight-set singles wins by Savannah Sendar at #4, Laura Malsert at #5 and Milojkovic at #6.

San Jose State concludes its two-match trip in Hawaii Sunday, March 31, taking on the University of Hawaii in a non-conference match.
