Despite the gray, blustery conditions, there was an enthusiastic and energetic San Jose State University football team inside CEFCU Stadium for the first day of spring practice.
Head coach Brent Brennan had over 90 players participating in the two-hour practice session.
"The team is really excited. It doesn't feel anything like spring with the rain and the cold. That's OK. We've got to play in the rain and the cold in the Mountain West," said Brennan. "The enthusiasm was off the charts. The team has worked really hard up to this point. The staff has invested an incredible amount of time fine-tuning scheme and implementing the stuff we want to get done.
"It's awesome to be back on the field."
"Coming out here as an offense under (Coach) McGiven for a second year, we've stepped up on to what we already know," said quarterback Josh Love who hopes the offense can increase comfortably its overall tempo and possibly increase its volume of plays during the season.
Practice resumes on Thursday, March 7, at 10:00 a.m. All practices are open to the public. Scrimmages are scheduled for Saturday, March 16, and March 23.
The Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 13, 2:00 p.m. inside CEFCU Stadium. There will be a youth camp at noon followed by an Easter Egg Hunt at 1:15 p.m.
