Tabron & Zambrano Highlight Final Day Of Outdoor Championship

Clovis, Calif.----- Hurdler Diamond Tabron and distance runner Jennifer Sandoval accounted for San Jose State University's final day point total at the Mountain West Outdoor Women's Track and Field Championship.
 
Tabron turned in her personal best in the 400 hurdles with a 1:03.07 for seventh place. Her previous personal best was a 1:04.34 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 20.
 
Sandoval finished sixth in the 5000 for the second consecutive year. She posted a time of 16:37.31. Boise State's Allie Ostrander successfully defended her 5000 championship with a 15:45.66.
 
In the team standings, San Jose State placed 11th with nine points. Besides Tabron and Sandoval with their top-seven finishes, Jeanette Zambrano's sixth place in the 3,000 steeplechase and Silvia Gutierrez's eighth place in the hammer throw accounted for the Spartans' scoring at the meet.
 
Colorado State won the team championship with 159.5 points. San Diego State was second with 121.
 
Sandoval, in the 10,000 meters, and Zambrano, in the steeplechase, are projected to compete at the NCAA First Round Regional Championships in Sacramento, Calif., May 23-25.
