Sandoval 17th In 10,000 At NCAA Preliminary Championships

Sacramento, Calif.----- San Jose State University's Jennifer Sandoval finished in 17th place in the women's 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Preliminary Championship Meet at Hornet Stadium.
 
            Sandoval crossed the finish line with a time of 34:22.02. The top-12 finishers in the 48-person field advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Austin, Texas in June.
 
            Amanda Vestri of Iowa State was the #12-qualifier with a time of 33:55.37. New Mexico's Weini Kelati won the race in 33:15.21.
 
            In her third Preliminary Championships, the junior from Fontana, Calif., finished eight places higher than she did in 2018 and 17 spots better than in 2017.
 
            Sandoval still has one race remaining at this year's NCAA Preliminary Championships meet. On Saturday, May 25, she and teammate Jeanette Zambrano are entered in the 5,000 meters.
