Last Week: The Spartans had a bye after losing to Tulsa, 34-16, on September 7. Quarterback Josh Love threw for 189 yards and one touchdown, while Nick Nash  had 48 rushing yards and found the end zone on a late 20-yard scoring scamper.

Spartan Fact: For the second consecutive week, San Jose State University linebacker Ethan Aguayo is the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) national leader in tackles per game at 17.0. Aguayo opened the season matching a single-game career best 20 tackles in the Northern Colorado victory on August 29. He added a game-high 14 stops in the September 7 game vs. Tulsa.

Women's Soccer (2-3-2)
This Week: The Spartans finish up the non-conference portion of the schedule with a home match against Portland on Friday the 20th. 

Last Week: SJSU went 0-2 last week with losses at Sacramento State, 2-1, and at home to Arizona, 1-0. 

Spartan Fact: Head coach Lauren Hanson faces her alma mater this Friday night when Portland comes to the Spartan Soccer Complex. As Lauren Orlandos, Hanson enjoyed an illustrious playing career as a four-year centerback for Portland. She was a member of three Pilot teams to play in the NCAA Women's College Cup. The 2000 and 2001 clubs reached the semifinals, and she captained the 2002 Pilots to the program's first NCAA Women's College Cup championship.

Volleyball (4-5)
This Week: The Spartans head across the country to play two matches in the Big Apple Tournament. The team plays at LIU Thursday night and at Columbia Friday night.

Last Week: The team went 1-2 last week in the South Bay Battle. The Spartans swept Marist at home on Saturday, 3-0, but fell to Northern Colorado, 3-0, and at Santa Clara, 3-1.

Spartan Fact: The Spartans recorded a season-best 14 service aces in the win over Marist. The team has not recorded at least 14 aces in a match in 17 years, the last time was September 7, 2002, when SJSU had 18 aces in a 3-1 win over Cal Poly at the Stanford Tournament.

Men's Soccer (0-5-0)
This Week: The Spartans host UC Davis this Saturday night at 7 p.m., at the Spartan Soccer Complex.

Last Week: San José State fell to #8 Saint Mary's 5-2 last Monday night and 3-0 last Thursday night at San Francisco.

Spartan Fact: The Spartans took 12 shots, six on goal, in the loss at San Francisco.

Men's Water Polo (0-3)
This Week: The Spartan men's water polo team plays at the Aggie Invitational hosted by UC Davis this Saturday and Sunday. 

Last Week: The Spartans traveled to Stanford for matches against the Cardinal (L, 16-5) and UCLA (L, 15-10).

Spartan Fact: The Spartans were tied with UCLA at halftime, 5-5, and Marc Weber led the team with three goals scored.

This Week: The Spartans are currently playing at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The team shot a two-under 286 in the second round, led by Caleb Shetler who shot a two-under 70. Bryce Wortman is in the top-10 at three-under 141.
