Spartans Go 2-1 In Final Day Of Aggie Invitational

Davis, Calif. - The Spartans went 2-1 in the final day of the Aggie Invitational, ending the afternoon and weekend strong with victories over Whittier and Ottawa (Ariz.). 

Neil Arnett started Sunday strong, scoring four of the 12 goals in the 14-12 loss against No. 4 Pacific. Finn Pardon, Adam Bado, Marc Weber, Niels Hofmeijer and Giacomo Lovateli also scored for the Spartans. 

The Tigers took the lead in the first quarter and continued to lead the rest of the match with No. 18 San Jose State following closely behind. Spartan goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with nine saves in the match. 

Finn Pardon shined in the second match of the day, scoring four of the 15 Spartan goals in their 15-9 non-conference win over Whitier. Nick Marchione, Ary Kamen, Neil Arnett, Marc Weber, Niels Hofmeijer, Brad Dennis and Giacomo Lovatelli all scored goals which led the Spartans to victory. 

SJSU took the lead in the first quarter with four goals, ultimately holding onto the lead until the end of the second half. 

Fire was credited with 11 saves while goalkeeper James O'Brien notched five saves in the match. 

It was freshman Ethan Koch who shined in Sunday's finale, leadign the team with four goals in its 22-6 victory over Ottawa (Ariz.). Michael Burgess, Finn Pardon, Nick Marchione, Utku Binkanat, Christian Tanase, Justin Pickering, Adam Bado, Marc Weber, Niels Hofmeijer, Brad Dennis and Utku Karhan all contributed to the 22 Spartan goals.

The Spartans ended the first quarter with a 7-0 lead and never looked back, holding onto their lead until the end of the second half to earn the win. 

Spartan goalkeeper Yahav fire was credited with four saves, goalkeeper James O'Brien tallied two saves and goalkeeper Finn Garfield was credited with five saves in the win.
