This Week: The Spartans return home this Saturday night for another game under the lights, this time the Golden Hurricane of Tulsa visit CEFCU Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. The Spartans are aiming for a 2-0 for the first time since 1987.

Last Week: The Spartans defeated Northern Colorado, 35-18, last Thursday night at CEFCU Stadium. Senior Josh Love threw for 224 yards and a touchdown and rushed for another touchdown. Ethan Aguayo led the Spartans with 20 tackles including two tackles for loss and a sack.
Spartan Fact: Since 1946, it has been the rare occasion for San José State to begin a season with at least two home games. In 1947, the Spartans played their first three games at home and would finish with a 9-3 win-loss record.

Women's Soccer (1-1-2)
This Week: The Spartans play just once this week - Friday night at the Spartan Soccer Complex against Utah Valley beginning at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Spartans picked their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory at Loyola Marymount last Thursday. In the 69th minute of play, Alexis Brewah buried a shot in the back of the next off a Karlee Pottorff pass for the only goal of the match. SJSU drove up Interstate 280 on Sunday to face third-ranked Stanford. The Cardinal won the match 7-0.
Spartan Fact: Head coach Lauren Hanson picked up her 50th win of her coaching career with the victory at LMU. She becomes the third-fastest among active Mountain West women's soccer coaches to achieve the feat and the second Spartan women's soccer coach to tally 50 wins.

Volleyball (1-2)
This Week: The Spartans travel done 101 to San Luis Obispo for the ShareSLO Mustang Challenge hosted by Cal Poly. The team faces Wichita State, North Texas and the Mustangs this weekend.
Last Week: The team went 1-2 at the Aggie Invitational, falling to Pacific (3-1) and UC Davis (3-0) before defeating Montana (3-0). The Spartans hit .359 in the win and the top-four hitters all hit .333 or better.
Spartan Fact: Thaliana Grajeda and Sarah Smevog were named to the Aggie Invitational All-Tournament team. Grajeda led the team with six blocks, while Smevog had a team-best 32 digs.

Men's Soccer (0-1-0)
This Week: The Spartans face two West Coast Conference foes this week on the road. The team heads up to Stockton Tuesday night for a match against Pacific before going cross-town Friday night for a match at Santa Clara.
Last Week: San José State opened the 2019 season last Friday night with a 2-0 home loss to Sacramento State. The team played solid for 86 of the 90 minutes of the match, but a four-minute stretch in the first half when the Hornets scored two goals for the win.
Spartan Fact: Juniors Rodolfo Castro and Max Allen each took four shots in the match against Sacramento State.

Men's Water Polo (0-0)
This Week: The Spartan men's water polo team begins the 2019 season at the Pacific Invitational on Saturday. The team warms up with an exhibition against Cuesta College before playing Pacific and Santa Clara.
Spartan Fact: The Spartans return to campus this year to a brand-new home in the Student Recreation and Aquatic Center (SRAC). The program spent the past three years training and competing at West Valley College. Now, the team will compete in the SRAC's pool

This Week: The Spartans are training for their next race at the end of September in the state capital.
Last Week - Men: Jose Piña won the USF Invitational 8K with a time of 25:17.0. The Spartans finished fourth in the team standings.
Last Week - Women: Jenny Sandoval won the women's 6K race in a time of 21:38.3. The women finished third in the team standings.
