FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – San José State women's swimming and diving took care of business on the final day of the Husky Invitational as they won both the college division and overall team score with a total of 972 on Sunday.
"After a bit of a tough start it was great to see the team rally and finish the meet on such a strong note," head coach Sage Hopkins said. "At this point we are looking forward to refining some aspects of our racing as we begin the final preparations for the Mountain West Championships and postseason."
The Spartans distanced themselves from second place Mission Viejo Nadadores (754) and third place University of Idaho (725). They opened the day with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:24.55. Six individual swimmers placed in the top-10 in their respective races as well. Madison Grimes finished seventh in the 200 backstroke and Chloe Limargo took third in the 200 breaststroke. SJSU also had a 4-5-6 finish in 100 freestyle as Antoinette Loya (58.68), Gabby Heng (58.75) and Katie McIntee (58.83) led the way with Kimberlee Giggey (59.38) coming in 10th.
