Women’s Soccer Picked To Finish Second In MW Preseason Coaches Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the fourth-consecutive year, San Jose State women's soccer is predicted to finish second out of the 12 Mountain West teams according to the 2019 MW Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The annual preseason poll is made up of votes from the 12 Mountain West head coaches reflecting a predicted order of finish for the teams during regular season play.

The Spartans tallied 105 points, edging out New Mexico (104) for second place and only behind 2018 regular season conference champion Boise State (109). SJSU received three first-place votes, tied for second-most with New Mexico and behind Boise State (4).

The Spartans were picked to finish second in the last four preseason polls. Last season, they fought their way through the conference slate to earn a No. 4 seed in the Mountain West Tournament where they defended their home turf at the Spartan Soccer Complex to win the title.

Conference play for the Spartans starts on September 27 in a road contest at Colorado College. SJSU will play their first home MW match on October 3 as they welcome preseason favorite Boise State to San Jose.

The Spartans return to the pitch on August 22 in their season opener vs. Cal Poly. Fans can catch an early look of the team on Thursday, August 15, as they host Saint Mary's for an exhibition match.
