San Jose, Calif.—San José State women's gymnasts Taylor Chan and Jada Mazury have been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Gymnast and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
Chan, a senior from Coquitlam, British Columbia, won the all-around title with a 38.875 at a dual meet at Alaska Anchorage last Saturday, the top all-around score in the MPSF this season. She also won event titles on vault with a 9.750 and on floor with a season-high 9.900.
Mazury, a freshman from Calgary, Alberta, recorded season-highs on the bars, beam and floor in the meet against the Seawolves. She was second on floor with a 9.825, tied for fourth on beam at 9.725 and a 9.750 on bars.
Chan, Mazury and the Spartans scored a season-high 194.375 to win at Alaska Anchorage and record the top team score in the MPSF this year.
San José State opens the home portion of the schedule this Sunday, January 26, with a meet against Seattle Pacific and Boise State at 2 p.m., inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
