After scoring a 38.800 in the all-around at the NorCal Classic, freshman gymnast Shyan Phillips was named the MPSF Women's Gymnast of the Week. In her first collegiate meet, Phillips finished fourth in the all-around with a 38.800. She started her collegiate career on bars with a 9.650, followed by a 9.725 on beam, tying for the second-best Spartan score on the apparatus. Phillips had a 9.625 on floor before finishing on vault with a 9.800 on vault, tying for fifth place.

Chan won the all-around title with a 38.875 at a dual meet at Alaska Anchorage last Saturday, the top all-around score in the MPSF this season. She also won event titles on vault with a 9.750 and on floor with a season-high 9.900.

WE LIKE THAT 9.900
When the scoreboard flashed that 9.900 after her floor routine at Alaska Anchorage, all was right in the universe for Taylor Chan. Last season, she scored a 9.900 in seven of her 13 floor routines performed. In all, she has received a 9.900 or better on floor 15 times. Chan's career-best 9.925 came during her freshman season (2017).

AND YOU GET A 9.800, AND YOU GET A 9.800...
In the final rotation Sunday, the final three Spartans each recorded a 9.800 on her vault. Cameron Kelperis started the scoring off with her 9.800, followed by Shyan Phillips and Taylor Chan. The three tied for fifth on vault, and the vault team scored the Spartans best apparatus score with a 48.800.

Two other Spartans scored a 9.800 at the meet. Emma Milne started the 9.800 scoring in her first collegiate routine on bars. Taylor Chan scored a 9.800 on beam in the next rotation.

WINNER, WINNER
In just her second meet as a Spartan, freshman Emma Milne won her first collegiate event title as she tied for first on beam with a 9.850 at Alaska Anchorage.
