December Student Athletes of the Month Announced

San José State University women's basketball player Cydni Lewis and football player Josh Love are the Student-Athletes of the Month for December.

Lewis averaged 10.4 points and grabbed 23 rebounds in her five appearances off the bench for the Spartans. She scored a season-high 18 points against BYU and added 14 in the team's record-setting victory over La Verne. She added 12 steals and six blocks in those games. Lewis ranks 11th in the Mountain West in blocks and was named to the Maui Jim Maui Classic All-Tournament team.

Love was named the 2019 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year on December 4. He is the first San Jose State football player to be named a conference Offensive Player of the Year since 1990. Love accepted a December 2019 invitation to play in the 2020 Hula Bowl all-star game in Honolulu, Hawaii. He finished 2019 with these individual national rankings - passing yards per game (3rd), completions per game (4th), total offense (7th). Love is the first San Jose State quarterback in six years to pass for more than 3,000 (3,923) and first Spartan signal caller to throw at least 20 touchdown passes in a season since David Fales in 2013.
