Lake Elsinore, Calif.—The Spartan softball team picked up two more wins Saturday as San José State defeated Seton Hall and Hawaii at the Golden State Classic to improve to 6-2 on the season.

Caroline Bowman and Shannon Haddad combined to pitch a three-hit shutout of the Pirates. Bowman recorded her first win of the season as she threw the first six innings, and Haddad recorded her first collegiate save by pitching the seventh inning.
The Spartans got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning as Suzy Brookshire homered to left field. In the fourth inning, Cassidy Clark scored on a Brookshire single to centerfield, and in the fifth inning, Rayohna Sagapolu scored on a Makayla Englestad single to center.
San José State 10, Hawaii 3
Hawaii took an early 3-0 after scoring two in the second and one in third inning. The Spartans then responded with five runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead for good. With two on, Clark doubled to center to score Mackenzie Drake from second to start the scoring. With the bases loaded, Alyssa Graham pinch hit and doubled to center to drive in two more runs. Jocylyn Vidal then singled to center to score Brookshire from third base, and Vicky Gutierrez hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Graham from third.
San José State added a single run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth and sixth inning for the 10-3 win. Vidal led the hitting attack as she went 3-for-3 from the plate with two RBI, while Graham had two hits and two runs scored as she drove in three runs.
Ilona Sullivan pitched 3.1 innings of relief of starter Jenessa Ullegue to improve her record to 2-1 on the season. Shannan Haddad also pitched one inning of relief.
The Spartans finish play at the Golden State Classic Sunday with a game against Portland State beginning at 11:30 a.m.
