Milne Sets New SJSU Record As Spartans Win At Seattle Pacific

Seattle, Wash.—Freshman Emma Milne rewrote the San José State women's gymnastics record book Friday night in just her seventh meet in a Spartan leotard as the Spartans recorded a 194.900 in a meet at Seattle Pacific.

Milne set the new San José State beam record with a 9.925 in the final rotation of the night. Eight Spartans, including current teammates Taylor Chan and Chelsey Andrada, had recorded a 9.900 in a meet 11 times, but no one could reach past that score. Milne's previous season best on beam was a 9.850 on January 18. This was also the second beam title for Milne this season.

The Spartan beam team scored a 49.100 on the night, tying for the fourth-best team beam score in school history. It was also the second time SJSU has scored a 49.000 or higher on beam this season. Milne's 9.925 led the team, followed by Chelsey Andrada at 9.850, Tia Gin at 9.800, Taylor Chan at 9.775, and Jada Mazury at 9.750.

Chan and Gin swept the top-two spots in the all-around with Chan winning at 39.000. Gin had the best all-around score of her career with a 38.975.

San José State started the meet on bars with a 48.550, led by Mazury at 9.800, then moved to vault with a 48.375 and three Spartans with a 9.750 – Cameron Kelperis, Gin and Chan. The team then had a 48.875 on floor in the third rotation, led by Chan at 9.875, and finished strong on beam with the 49.100.

San José State competes next Friday, February 28, at Sacramento State beginning at 7 p.m.
