San José, Calif.—The San José State beach volleyball team won two more duals in the second day of competition at Spartan Beach to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Spartans started the day with a 3-2 win over UC Davis. Cailtin Bettenay and Kaitlynn Zdroik won at number one, 21-19, 21-17, while Thaliana Grajeda and Tabea Schwarz won the second position in three sets. Haylee Nelson and Sarah Smevog won at the number-three position in straight sets.
SJSU won the afternoon dual with Santa Clara, 4-1, as all four wins came in straight sets. The pairs of Grajeda and Schwarz and Nelson and Smevog went 2-0 on the day. Grajeda and Schwarz are 4-0 for the season.
"One through five, our girls dug in and got it done any way they could," said San Jose State beach volleyball coach Delainey Gregory about the day's action.
San José State finishes the weekend with a dual against Grand Canyon Sunday at 12 p.m., at Spartan Beach.
