San Jose, Calif.—The Spartan beach volleyball team recorded its fifth win of the season Thursday as San José State swept Sacramento State, 5-0, at Spartan Beach.
The Spartans swept four of the matches in the dual. The day started with Ryann Thomison and Kiley Lingenfelter winning 21-12, 21-10. Thaliana Grajeda and Tabea Schwarz got the second point with a 21-17, 24-22 win.
The third Spartan point was won by Caitlin Bettenay and Kaitlynn Zdroik with their 21-18, 21-13 win. They were challenged though as Haylee Nelson and Sarah Smevog won their match not a minute later at 21-12, 22-20.
Latahevai Lousi and Summer Vercruyssen needed three sets to capture the final Spartan point at 14-21, 21-14, 15-9.
San José State is now 5-1 on the season and hosts San Francisco Friday beginning at noon at Spartan Beach.
