Three Gymnasts Win Titles, Beam Team On Fire Friday Night

Davis, Calif.—Three Spartans won event titles, and the beam team recorded the second-best score in school history as the San José State women's gymnastics team scored a 193.525 in a meet at UC Davis Friday night.
 
Jada Mazury won her first two collegiate event titles as she recorded season-bests on bars with a 9.800 and beam with a 9.875. Chelsey Andrada won her second beam title of the season with a season-high 9.875. Taylor Chan won the floor as she tied her career-best 9.925, and the all-around with a season-best 39.225.
 
The Spartan beam team finished the night with a 49.175, the second-best beam team score in history, only trailing the school record of 49.275 set in 2011 and 2018. Mazury and Andrada led the team as they each scored a 9.875. Emma Milne scored a 9.825, while Tia Gin and Chan each had a 9.800.
 
The Spartans had a rough first rotation as three gymnasts fell as the team had to count two falls in the team's 47.100. Carli Orcutt started the rotation off with a 9.700, followed by Chan at 9.775. After a fall from Nikki Duggan, Mazury scored a season and team-best 9.800. Milne and Gin then scored a 9.100 and 8.775 respectively to end the rotation.
 
The vault team rebounded with a 48.325. Gin started the rotation off with a career-best 9.750, followed by Andrada at 9.625 and Antonia Marquez at 9.475. Cameron Kelperis scored a 9.700, and Chan had a 9.775 to lead the Spartans. Milne rounded out the Spartan rotation with a 9.225.
 
The floor team scored a team-high 48.925 in the third rotation, led by Chan's career-high 9.925. Kelperis started the rotation with a 9.675, followed by Marquez at 9.700, Andrada at 9.775, Gin at 9.150, Mazury at 9.850 and Chan at 9.925.
 
San José State hosts Alaska Anchorage on Valentine's Day for a 7 p.m. meet. The night is designated as the Pink Meet, Military Appreciation Night and Organ Donor Awareness. Tickets are available at the door or by calling the Spartan Ticket Office at (408) 924-SJTX.
