San José, Calif.-The San José State beach volleyball team won four of the five points in a dual Monday with Stephen F. Austin at Spartan Beach.
Thaliana Grajeda and Tabea Schwarz, playing in the one spot for the first time this season, swept their opponent 21-14, 21-19. Caitlin Bettenay and Kaitlynn Zdroik moved down to number two and won 21-14, 21-19.
Two other Spartan pairs won in straight sets – Haylee Nelson and Sarah Smevog 21-17, 21-6, and Latahevai Lousi and Summer Vercruyssen 21-16, 21-16.
San José State is now 9-2 on the season and travels to Berkeley this Saturday for duals against California and Saint Mary's.
