Spartan Defensive Lineman Sailosi Latu Signs With Atlanta Falcons

Sailosi Latu, one of the most versatile San Jose State University football defensive linemen in recent years, signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons following the 2020 National Football League draft.

During the 2017 through 2019 seasons, the 334-pound native of Tonga played inside and outside on the Spartans' three-man defensive front. Latu started in all 28 games he played and was credited with 108 total tackles. His best statistical season was in 2019 when he was in on 54 tackles, tops among his defensive line mates, and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Latu transferred to San Jose State after two seasons at Mount San Antonio College.

The communication studies major was a 2017 Academic All-Mountain West honoree.

He is the second Spartan from the 2019 team to sign an undrafted free agent contract. Quarterback Josh Love signed with the Los Angeles Rams.

Latu also becomes the second San Jose State player on the Atlanta team. Starting fullback Keith Smith, who began his professional career as an undrafted free agent like Latu, finished his first season with the Falcons in 2019 and his sixth season in the National Football League.
