Five Spartans In Top-25 At GCAA Amateur Series At Oak Valley

Beaumont, Calif.----- Playing as unattached entries, Sean Yu, Vijay Srinivasan, Matt Heitel, Nate Jetter and Caleb Shetler of San José State University finished in the top-25 of the GCAA Amateur Series at Oak Valley Golf Club.
 
            Yu was fifth with a seven-under par 209 (70-70-69); Srinivasan, tied for sixth at four-under 212 (72-71-69); Heitel, the first-round co-leader, tied for 17th at even par 216 (68-74-74); Jetter, tied for 21st at one-over par 217 (73-70-74); and Shetler, tied for 24th at two-over par 218 (74-78-66). Parker Sisk, who tied for 33rd at 224 (78-74-72), and R.J. Cesario, tied for 50th at 232 (79-78-75), also were in the field of 61 men's and women's golfers on the par 72, 6,952-yard Oak Valley Golf Club course.
 
            Cameron Henry, a junior at the University of Southern California, turned in the low 54-hole total for the tournament at 11-under par 205 (69-71-65).
 
            No team scores were kept during the two-day, 54-hole competition managed by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
 
The GCAA Amateur Series consists of two-day, 54-hole tournaments from August to November in 15 states for men and women who were members of a college program in 2019-20 or are scheduled to be on a team for the 2020-21 academic year. An objective of the GCAA Amateur Series is to provide tournament competition opportunities until the college schedule can resume.
