Six Spartans In Top-25 At Dove Mountain GCAA Amateur

Marana, Ariz.----- Parker Sisk led a throng of seven San Jose State University men's golfers playing individually and finishing in the top-25 with his second place tie at the Dove Mountain GCAA Amateur.
 
Sisk posted a 54-hole of four-under par 212 with scores of 70-69-73 and tied Trevor Werblyo who attends the University of Arizona. Werblyo's teammate on the Wildcats men's golf team David Laskin finished first with a 12-under par 204. Laskin was the only player under par in each of the three rounds played at par 72, 7,014-yard The Gallery at Dove Mountain course.
 
Kristopher Stiles, a first semester Spartan, posted the low round of the event with a second-round seven-under par 65 and tied for fifth at two-under 214 (74-65-75). Stiles had nine birdies for his 65 and 14 for the tournament.
 
Caleb Shetler had the best score of the final round with a four-under 68 and tied for seventh at one-under par 215 (74-73-68). Only eight in the 57-player co-ed field completed the event under par.
 
Sean Yu notched his second top-10 finish in the GCAA Amateur Series events alone in 10th place at even par 216 (77-70-69). Yu was fifth at the GCAA Amateur Series at Oak Valley in Beaumont, Calif., in August.
 
Matt Heitel tied for 16th at 222 (72-73-77) and Vijay Srinivasan tied for 21st at 224 (78-71-75).
 
Nate Jetter tied for 40th at 233 (81-74-78); R.J. Cesario, 51st with a 249 (85-83-81); and Bryce Wortman, who withdrew after completing 18 holes, were the other Spartans in the field.
 
No team scores were kept during the two-day, 54-hole competition managed by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

The GCAA Amateur Series consists of two-day, 54-hole tournaments from August to November in 15 states for men and women who were members of a college program in 2019-20 or are scheduled to be on a team for the 2020-21 academic year. An objective of the GCAA Amateur Series is to provide tournament competition opportunities until the college schedule can resume.
