Colorado Springs, Colo. ----- San Jose State University freshman Shamar Garrett was named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week for games ending the weekend December 12.
Garrett ignited a complete Spartan comeback against the University of Nevada after trailing 20-7 at halftime with a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second half. San Jose State shutout the Wolf Pack the final two quarters to finish with a 30-20 win and complete the regular season with a 6-0 win-loss record.
The Spartans, ranked 25th nationally, continue their season Saturday, December 19, when they host Boise State at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev., for the Mountain West championship. Game time is 1:15 p.m. with FOX Sports providing live over-the-air television coverage.
