SJSU Athletics Statements On Penn State Football Game Cancellation

The San Jose State University football game at Penn State scheduled for September 19, 2020, will not be played following The Big Ten Conference's announcement on conference-only contests in selected sports this fall.

"We are in a precedent-setting time in college athletics. Sandy Barbour, Athletics Director at Penn State called this morning and we were both very much looking forward to playing this fall. The actions by the Big Ten Conference will require a shift for us and we will adjust our plans for the 2020 football season and the 2020-21 academic year accordingly." - Marie Tuite, San Jose State University director of athletics.

"Today's news is another result of how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our lives. Our health, safety, and well-being takes priority. We'll get together as a football program, athletics department and as a university, look at our options, and determine our next steps in everyone's best interests. In the meantime, we must remember to follow the directives of our health officials, wear our masks, wash our hands often, and practice safe social distancing." - San Jose State University Football Head Coach Brent Brennan.
