Spartans' Cade Hall Named To Prestigious Walter Camp All-America Team

New Haven, Conn.----- San Jose State University defensive lineman Cade Hall became the second player in school history to be named to a Walter Camp All-America team as a 2020 second-team honoree.

The first Walter Camp All-America team was named in 1889 and is the longest running All-America college football program in the country.

Hall ranks second nationally with 10.0 quarterback sacks in San Jose State's eight-game conference championship season and is one of four players in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) with 10.0 or more sacks. The 2020 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and the conference championship game's Most Valuable Defensive Player also was credited with 12.0 tackles for loss and ranked 12th nationally in games played through January 1, 2021.

Of the 51 players named a 2020 Walter Camp All-America, the communication studies major  from Morgan Hill, Calif., is the only player  from a west coast or Pacific Time Zone school and one of two Mountain West players.

The All-America honor is Hall's fourth for the season. He was named a first-team All-America by The Sporting News, a USA Today.com second-team All-America, and a third-team honoree by Phil Steele magazines.

Hall joins former punter Michael Carrizosa as Spartans named a Walter Camp All-America. Carrizosa was a second-team selection in 2015.

The Walter Camp All-America designation is named in honor of Walter Camp (1859-1925), "The Father of American Football," who was a former Yale University football player and football coach. He is credited with establishing the game as 11-on-11; the number of points for touchdowns, field goals, PATs, and safeties; and the line of scrimmage concept.
