Las Vegas, Nev.—The San José State women's swimming team finished the second day of the Mountain West Championships in eighth place in the team standings.
Makenna Mathieson swam in the bonus heat in the 50 freestyle final and was a member of the 400 medley relay. Mathieson swam a 24.01 in the prelims for the 50 free to advance to the night's competition.
The relay team of Kayla Craft-Williams, Izzie Fraire, Rebecca Petoe and Mathieson finished at 3:52.60.
Third day preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. on Friday for the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststoke and 100 backstroke. Finals begin at 6:30 p.m. with the 200 freestyle relay.
