Spartans Finish Mountain West Championships

Las Vegas, Nev.—The San José State University women's swimming and diving team finished the abbreviated 2021 season Saturday night at the Mountain West Championships in Las Vegas.
 
Alice Ciobanu started the night by finishing 19th in the 1650 free with a time of 17:55.63.
 
Kayla Craft-Williams then finished 22nd in the 200 backstroke at 2:06.60, improving almost two seconds from her morning prelim time of 2:08.39.
 
Reagan Mathieson represented the Spartans in the 100 free, finishing 21st at 51.71.
 
Three Spartans swam in the bonus race of the 200 breaststroke. Izzie Fraire won that race to finish 17th at 2:19.88, followed by Cali Rowland in 18th at 2:20.27 and Rebecca Petoe in 20th at 2:21.57.
 
The 400 freestyle relay team placed eighth at 3:32.34 to end the four-day championship meet.
 
San José State finished eighth in the team standings. The championship came down to the last race as UNLV won the 400 free relay to capture the crown by 10 points over Nevada.
