Softball Drops Home Opener

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose State softball returned to their home diamond for the first time in just over a full calendar year on Wednesday, hosting the University of the Pacific for a nonconference showdown at the Spartan Softball Complex. The Spartans dropped the contest by a final of 5-1 to drop to 3-9 on the young season. 

San Jose State will get ready to host another home game on Friday as they welcome crosstown rival Santa Clara for a 4:00 p.m. showdown. 

QUICK HITTERS
- Jocylyn Vidal plated the Spartans' lone run on a RBI double, her first of the season, that nearly cleared the yard in the second inning. 
- Ashley Rico also recorded her first double of the season to lead-off the second and scored on Vidal's hit. 
- SJSU was held to four hits as a team while Pacific tallied nine knocks. 
- Jenessa Ullegue split time in the field and the circle, and worked 4.1 shutout innings with four hits against and a strikeout. 
- Caroline Bowman (0-5) was charged with the loss while Pacific's Avery Croxall (1-1) picked up the win and Amiyah Anote was credited with the save.
