Volleyball Sweeps Nevada

San Jose, Calif.—For the second consecutive match, the San José State volleyball team hit above .300 as the team swept Nevada 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-17) Saturday afternoon inside Spartan Gym.
 
The Spartans hit .304 with 40 kills on 92 swings and only 12 errors. Ryann Thomiason led the team in hitting at .500 with six kills on 12 attempts and no errors. Allyson Alden hit .375 with eight kills on 16 attempts and two errors.
 
Haylee Nelson led the Spartans with 10 kills and 10 digs, her fifth double-double of the season, and hit .320 for the match. Makayla Lewis added eight kills as she hit .312 (8-3-16). Latahevai Lousi recorded eight kills and eight digs.
 
The Spartans recorded a season-best 12 service aces in the win. Mia Schafer led the team with five, while Nelson had three, Lousi with two and Lewis and Sarah Smevog with one each.
 
"We came out today with a lot of focus and attention to be our best. I think that is a successful day for us," said Spartan head coach Trent Kersten.


 
San José State is now 3-5 on the season and hosts Colorado State next Friday and Saturday inside Spartan Gym at 3 p.m. Both matches can be seen on the Mountain West Network.
