San José, Calif. - San José State's Ruben Ibarra homered in each game of Saturday's doubleheader but the effort wasn't enough as Fresno State earned a pair of victories at Excite Ballpark.
Ibarra also went yard in Friday's first game and now has a total of four home runs on the season.
The Bulldogs escaped with a 4-2 win in game one of Saturday's twin-bill before pulling away early en route to a 12-2 decision in game two.
The Spartans will return to action and go for the series split on Sunday afternoon against Fresno State. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. at Excite Ballpark.
Singles - Game 1 (L, 4-2)
- Trailing 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Ibarra went big fly for his third homer of the season to cut SJSU's deficit in half.

- Ibarra then came around to score in the sixth, tying the game at 2-2 on an RBI single off the bat of freshman Kai Saterstrom.
- Saterstrom and senior Andrew Jurado both tallied multi-hit games.
- Right-hander Jonathan Clark went 5.2 innings on the mound, striking out nine while allowing just three hits.
- Clark came just one out short of throwing a complete game.
- Senior Josh Zanger was the only other Spartan to toe the rubber, allowing just one hit without surrendering a run.
- SJSU ended the contest out-hitting Fresno State, 6-4.
- The Spartans did not commit an error in the day's lid-lifter.
Singles - Game 2 (L, 12-2)
- Ibarra and sophomore Dalton Bowling each secured an RBI in game two.
- Ibarra's fourth home run of the season hit high on the palm trees beyond the left field wall in the bottom half of the third, marking San José State's first run of the contest.

- An RBI double to deep center off the bat of Bowling scored freshman Charles McAdoo in the sixth.
- Senior Wesley Clawson impressed out of the bullpen, allowing just two runs while striking out three in three innings of work.
- The contest was called after seven innings on account of the conference's new 10-run rule (in place for the 2021 season only).
