Stanford, Calif.—The San José State beach volleyball team faced two more top-15 ranked teams on Sunday, falling to #10 California 4-1, and #11 Stanford, 5-0, in duals played at Stanford Beach Volleyball Complex.
Against the Golden Bears, Allyson Alden and Mia Schafer needed three sets to win the only Spartan point, 17-21, 22-20, 15-13. The other four Spartan pairs lost in straight sets, the closest by Cheyenne Rice and Allison Pereira at 23-21, 21-12.
San José State lost in straight sets in the 5-0 loss to the Cardinal.
The Spartans are currently 3-7 on the season and have a chance for one more victory in 2021 as the team hosts San Francisco this Tuesday at noon at Spartan Beach. Fans can follow along on live stats at www.sjsustats.com and a live video feed on the team's Twitter page @SanJoseStateVB.
