CLOVIS, Calif. - A trio of San José State sprinters impressed on Friday at the West Coast Relays in Clovis.
Senior Roman Johnson hit a conference-leading mark in the men's 100m while the Spartans finished two-three in the women's 400m.
"The team has been trusting the process and we have been improving as a whole each week," said director of track and field Kendra Reimer-Gonzales after the meet. "As we finish up a long string of meets, we now get a well-deserved break and will start preparation for the conference championships. The team is ready to regroup and focus in on one final big performance in two weeks."
Johnson placed third in the 100m with a time of 10.54 seconds while sophomore Jalen Adams was just half a second behind his teammate at 10.99.
Another sophomore-senior duo performed well in the women's 400m as senior Daryia Greene finished in second with a mark of 54.63 seconds. Sophomore Sydney Bentley placed third in the event with a time of 54.99.
SJSU now has two weeks off before beginning the postseason at the Mountain West Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin on May 13 in Clovis.
