USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - San José State combined for 12 hits in Saturday's doubleheader but the effort wasn't enough as Air Force earned a pair of victories on Saturday at Falcon Field.
The Falcons earned a 9-3 win in game one of Saturday's twin-bill before pulling away in the middle innings en route to an 11-3 decision in game two.
The Spartans will return to action and look to get back in the win column on Sunday against Air Force. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m. (MT) at the Academy.
Singles - Game 1 (L, 9-3)
- Trailing 2-0 in the top of the third, Ruben Mercado tallied his seventh RBI of the season with an RBI groundout to score Jackson Forbes and cut the deficit in half.
- Sophomore Dalton Bowling doubled in the sixth to score Ruben Ibarra for the team's second run of the game, then came around to score himself on a wild pitch.
- Right-hander Jonathan Clark went 4.1 innings on the mound, striking out four on the day.

- Senior Wesley Clawson was impressive in relief, working 1.2 frames of scoreless ball while striking out a pair and surrendering just one hit.
- Clark and Clawson were the only Spartans to toe the rubber in the first game of the twin-bill.
- The Spartans did not commit an error in the day's lid-lifter.
Singles - Game 2 (L, 11-3)
- Bowling and freshman Theo Hardy each secured an RBI in game two.
- Freshman Matt Spear made his first career start and caught a Falcon baserunner stealing second to end the first frame.

- San José State's first run of the contest came in the second as Bowling singled home James Shimashita to trim a 2-0 deficit in half.
- Bowling would come in to score the team's second run of the game in the top of the seventh after senior Connor Konishi put the ball in play with a single back to the pitcher.
- Bowling scored once again in the ninth, this time on a Hardy RBI single to center.
- Bowling and freshman Charles McAdoo each tallied multi-hit games.
- McAdoo secured a double in the top of the sixth, then reached in the visiting half of the eighth with a triple.
- Bowling now owns the team's longest active hit streak (four games) and is followed by Hardy and senior Andrew Jurado (two).
- Trevor Ernt and Josh Zanger were the two Spartans to toe the rubber in game two, combining for six strikeouts between the pair.
