One Spartan Nation Launches Membership Drive

In order to raise funds to support student-athlete scholarships, San José State Athletics kicks off the annual One Spartan Nation Membership Drive this week. The Membership Drive bridges one of the many storied traditions of the Spartan Foundation — the Spartan Foundation Fund Drive — with the future of Athletics fundraising through One Spartan Nation membership.

"As we listened to our wonderful supporters, it was abundantly clear that we needed to include the Drive in our fundraising approach," said Deputy Director of Athletics Development Rob Clark. "This year will be unique due to gathering restrictions, and yet we are so grateful for all of our volunteer Drive workers who have stepped up to help build One Spartan Nation in support of student-athlete scholarships."

Over the next six weeks, 30 volunteer Ambassadors will be reaching out to their networks seeking donations in support of student-athlete scholarships. The volunteer Ambassadors represent generations of Spartan alumni and friends:

"Our Ambassadors are incredible supporters of athletics and our university," said Spartan Director of Athletics Marie Tuite. "I'm very grateful for their efforts going above and beyond to help support our student-athletes and to grow One Spartan Nation. Every single donation is important to this program, no matter the amount. One Spartan Nation continues to change the lives of our student-athletes so a sincere thank-you to the efforts of our Ambassadors."

With COVID-19 protocols in place, the Ambassadors will have a series of virtual sessions with Athletics Development staff to report membership acquisition throughout the Drive. Anyone who makes a gift to the Spartan Athletics Scholarship Fund or any area of Athletics will become a member of One Spartan Nation and will receive member benefits corresponding with their giving level. With the launch of One Spartan Nation, adjusted procedures have been implemented to ensure that donor intent is honored and that all funds given will be properly deposited in the Tower Foundation to benefit student-athletes.
