Bridgeport, Pa.---- For the fifth consecutive academic year, the San Jose State University women's water polo team was honored by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) as one of the top performing academic programs nationally.

As a team, the Spartans ranked tied for 17th nationally overall with a grade-point average (G.P.A.) of 3.57. The team G.P.A. was 10th best among NCAA Division I women's water polo programs and second in the seven-team Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the #1 women's water polo conference in the country.

The 83.3 percent of the team earning the individual national academic honor is the highest percentage for a year in program history.

"We are exceptionally proud of our Spartans that were named Scholar All-Americans. Our women are top notch leaders in and out of the pool and their dedication to their studies is tremendous. The ability to balance a competitive training schedule and maintaining a high GPA is a reflection of their professional approach to personal development. These women work hard and this recognition is terrific and well deserved.," said San José State University women's water polo head coach Beth Harberts.
