USAF Academy, Colo. - Senior Willy Miranda led San José State with three shots while Finlay Wood totaled two but it was defending WAC champion Air Force that came away with a 2-0 victory in Saturday's conference opener at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
- Both Miranda and Wood finished the day with a shot on goal. Wood threatened with an attempt from distance in the 30th minute while Miranda's 67th minute effort was saved near the top of the frame.
- The Spartans took seven shots in total on the day (three in the first half, four in the final 45).
- SJSU ended the match with an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
- Four Spartans - Kameron Bolden, Carlos Gomez-Zavala, Kasper Poulsgaard and David Sweeney - played the full 90 on Saturday.
- Sweeney made a sweet save in goal to keep the match scoreless early, coming off his line in a one-on-one situation and going hard to the ground to keep Air Force off the board.
The Spartans will look to bounce back when they open up a two-match homestand on Friday against Dixie State. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Spartan Soccer Complex.
