Series history: San Jose State leads the series, 17-3. The two teams are meeting for the first time since 2012 when both schools were Western Athletic Conference members.

The Spartans have wins in the last two meetings including a 47-7 victory in Las Cruces, N.M., on November 10, 2012. The Aggies last win in the series was a 29-27 triumph at home on October 30, 2010.

New Mexico State's last win in CEFCU Stadium was a 24-21 decision on November 5, 1994 when both teams were Big West Conference members.

Aiming for a 2-2 non-conference record: A San José State win over New Mexico State would give the Spartans a 2-2 non-conference regular season record for the second time in three seasons. San Jose State was 2-2 in 2019 non-conference games defeating Northern Colorado and Army West Point. The Spartans only non-conference opponent in 2020 was Ball State in the Offerpad Arizona Bowl.

Home at last: For the first time since August 28, San Jose State has the opportunity to play a home game when the Spartans host New Mexico State for the first time since 2011.

According to webflyer.com, the Spartans traveled 9,316 air miles in September to play at USC, their Mountain West opener at Hawai'i, and at Western Michigan.

San Jose State has three relatively short trips the remainder of the season traveling to Fort Collins, Colo., Las Vegas, and Reno, Nev.

Two blocks in the last two weeks: In each of San Jose State's last two games, the Spartans' special teams recorded a blocked kick.

At Hawai'i, San Jose State blocked its first punt in four years when Kairee Robinson blocked a second quarter punt which the Spartans eventually turned into a touchdown seven plays later.

At Western Michigan, San Jose State's Hadari Darden blocked an extra point attempt in the first quarter to keep the score at 6-3 in Western Michigan's favor.
