MEDINAH, Ill—Antonia Malate continues her strong play this season as she shot a one-under 71 in the first round of the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah and was in the top-20 after the first round of the tournament. Play was suspended in the middle of the second round late Monday afternoon due to weather in the area.
•The Spartans were 12th after the first round with a two-over 290, and were shooting even through 10-11 holes of the second round. The team had made 103 pars up to that point.
•Malate made four birdies and 11 pars in the first round and was tied for 19th after 18 holes. She started the second round with a birdie on her first hole and had made 10 consecutive pars before play was stopped.
•Natasha Andrea Oon, Kajsa Arwefjäll and Louisa Carlbom each shot a one-over 73 and were tied for 32nd after the first round. Oon made 15 pars and a birdie on her final hole of the first round, while Arwefjäll made two birdies and 13 pars during the first round. Both were shooting even par through 11 holes of the second round.
•Carlbom made four birdies during her first round and was two-over through 10 holes of the second round.
•Lucia Lopez Ortega tied for 49th after one round, shooting a two-over 74. After starting the first round with a bogey, she made 14 consecutive pars before finishing bogey-par-par. She is two-over par through 10 holes of the second round.
•Round 2 will resume at 8:30 a.m. CT/6:30 a.m. PT, with the third round to follow immediately afterwards.
