EDINBURG, Texas - Goals from seniors Max Allen and Rudi Castro and a perfect performance in relief by goalkeeper Eric Waltz allowed San José State to top UTRGV for a 2-1 victory on Friday.
SJSU (7-5-2, 5-1-1 WAC) has now earned six straight results, matching the program's longest unbeaten streak since the 2009 Spartans notched eight in a row.
- Castro scored the team's first goal of the day in the match's 12th minute, calmly collecting an Allen rebound off the woodwork before placing the ball into the back of the net. The sequence was started by senior Finlay Wood as the midfielder hit Allen in stride on the left side of the box.
