PULLMAN, Wash. -- Senior A'Tyanna Gaulden led the Spartans in scoring in Tuesday night's season opener at Washington State. Gaulden scored 14 points in the 86-56 loss at Beasley Coliseum.
With so many new faces in the program, women's basketball head coach Jamie Craighead is excited about the future for this season.
Noteworthy Numbers
- Ellie Boni notched the Spartan's first points of 2021. The sophomore transfer had SJSU's first six points
- Gaulden (14) and Boni (10) are the first to score double figures this season
- Meghan Oberg tallied 8 points, 6 rebounds and Cydni Lewis finished with 4 points, five rebounds and two blocks
- Eight different Spartans scored
- Six newcomers recorded their first career minutes as a Spartan
- San José State explored its depth, scoring 28 points off the bench
