SAN JOSE, Calif. - Trey Smith grabbed an offensive rebound and drained a short-range jumper at the buzzer to lift San José State (1-0) over Cal State Fullerton (0-2), 78-76, on Thursday night inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. First-year head coach Tim Miles earns his 400th career win in style as the Spartans shot an impressive 50 percent (14-for-28) from behind the arc.

Smith finished with a team-high 14 points, joining teammate Shon Robinson. Caleb Simmons was the final SJSU player in double figures with 11, while Ibrahima Diallo tallied eight points and eight rebounds.
