Muzsnay, Kovács 500 Free Highlights Spartans First Day at Mizzou Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo.—Zsófia Muzsnay and Réka Kovács swam themselves into the San José State women's swimming record book in the finals of the 500 freestyle during the first day of the Mizzou Invite hosted by the University of Missouri Wednesday.

 

  • Muzsnay finished ninth overall and first in the "B" final of the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:47.13, the second-fastest time in the event in San José State history. Her time also qualified for the NCAA "B" cut, and ranks among the top-20 fastest times in the NCAA so far this season.
  • Kovács finished 20th in the 500 free with a time of 4:58.25, the 10th fastest time at San José State. These two times are the fastest in the event at San José State since the 2015-16 season.
  • Chloe Limargo and Ela Freiman were the top-two Spartans in the 200 IM. Limargo swam 2:07.97 in the "B" finals, while Freiman swam 2:06.59 in the "C" finals.
  • Muzsnay also swam her best time of the season in the 50 free at 23.83.

The Spartans scored 70 points after the first day of competition with more races to come on Thursday and Friday.
