While most see the number 13 as a sign of bad luck, the San José State women's golf program embraces that number as the Spartans finished the 2021 fall season ranked 13th in the Golfstat, Golfweek and Mizuno WGCA Top-25 polls.
The Spartans had one of the best fall semesters in recent history as the team finished second in three of the four tournaments played in September and October. Individually, at least one Spartan finished in the top-10 at each tournament, with Natasha Andrea Oon second at The Molly Collegiate Invitational.
The team shot three of the best rounds in school history, led by the 277 in the second round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. That score is the second best in school history. The Spartans also shot a 278 in the third rounds of the Illini Women's Invitational and Stanford Intercollegiate.
San José State also shot the second lowest team score in a tournament for three rounds with an 846 at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
The Spartans start spring competition in February with the Lamkin Invitational, February 14 & 15, at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
