SAN JOSE, Calif. - Ella Ogier notched her first double-double of the season as San José State women's basketball put the first home win in the books on Saturday afternoon against the University of the Pacific. Ogier totaled 14 points, 10 rebounds in the 71-60 win at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
The Spartans improve to 2-3 on the young season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cydni Lewis and Meghan Oberg got things going in the paint for the Spartans in the opening frame.
- Back-and forth affair through the first eight minutes before SJSU broke away and didn't let go of the lead again
- San José State was all gas, no brakes, keeping a steady lead throughout the second half
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- The Spartans had an impressive 20 assists on 24 field goals
- Ogier recorded her first double double of the season, tallying 14 points, 10 rebounds adding three assists and five steals. The Omaha Transfer was 7-8 from the charity stripe
- Lewis put on a clinic from the jump, scoring nine points in the opening 10 minutes. The senior led all scorers, finishing with 19 points, nine rebounds and two steals
- SJSU was dominant on the glass, outrebounding the Tigers 48-38 in a balanced effort with four players grabbing more than five boards
- Five Spartans scored double figures: Lewis (19), Ogier (14), A'Tyanna Gaulden (13), Ellie Boni (12) and Meghan Oberg (10) had her first double-digit performance this season
- San José State held the Pacific to the lowest scoring performance by an opponent this season
