Senior Guard Trey Smith Surprised with Scholarship

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State senior walk-on guard Trey Smith was surprised with a scholarship from head coach Tim Miles following practice on Monday. Smith, Cypress, Calif., has played in 74 games for the Spartans over four years with 24 starts including 10 this season.

  • He had a career-high 24 points and tied the program record with eight 3-pointers in the Spartans 90-78 win over Portland on Friday (story).
  • Made four 3-pointers with 17 points in a win against North Dakota (12/03)
  • Has eight double-digit scoring games on the season
  • Twice this season he has five assists

The San José State men's basketball team (6-4, 0-0 Mountain West) will host Santa Clara (9-5, 0-0 WCC) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center part of a doubleheader with the Spartans women's basketball team hosting UCSB at 4 p.m. with one ticket good for both games.
