SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State women's basketball team (3-8, 0-0 Mountain West) begin its 2021-22 conference slate at New Mexico (9-4, 0-0 Mountain West) on Tuesday at 1 p.m. (Pacific) at The Pitt in Albuquerque. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
Opening Tip
- Meghan Oberg led the team in scoring last time out at the Event Center last week vs. UC Santa Barbara with 14 points
- Cydni Lewis leads the Spartans in scoring and rebounding with 12.2 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game
- Lewis recorded her third 20+ point performance of the season on Dec. 15 vs. UC Irvine. The senior led all scorers with 22 points and added seven rebounds
Scouting Report: The Lobos
- Shaiquel McGruder leads New Mexico in scoring with 13.8 points per game
- The Lobos are 7-0 at home in the Pitt this season
- Four Lobos are averaging double figure scoring this season
- Head Coach Mike Bradbury is in his sixth season at the helm
The History
San José State trails in the all-time series 4-12. The Spartans took the victory, 89-85, the last time the two teams battled back in the 2019-20 season. San José State earned their fourth straight win by way of 15 made 3-pointers in the Event Center. The team's 60 percent 3-point shooting performance, narrowly missing the Craighead-era record of 61 percent set earlier that season.
Next Home Game: The Spartans host Nevada at 4:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve (Friday, December 31) and kids 12 and under get a complimentary ticket. Tickets can be purchased here.
New Covid Entry Policy:
- All personnel with a SJSU Tower ID (students, staff and faculty) will only have to show Tower ID and ticket for entry
- Tower ID holders are within the SJSU Covid protocols
- Those without a Tower ID will be required to show proof of vaccination with their card, a photo on their phone or QR code
- Fans that are not vaccinated will be required to show proof of a negative COVID test (Age 3 and up)
- For Antigen tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 24 hours
- For PCR tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 48 hours
- The antigen test can include a take-home test, sold at Walgreens, CVS and other pharmacies
Mask Policy:
- Fans are required to wear masks indoors at all times unless actively eating or drinking
