Lewis Earns Double Double on New Year's Eve

SAN JOSÉ, Calif. –
Cydni Lewis led San José State (3-9, 0-1 Mountain West) in an 83-48 loss to Nevada (10-4, 2-0 Mountain West) inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center on Friday, New Year's Eve, evening. Lewis earned her second double-double of the season, notching 10 points and 11 rebounds in the Spartans' conference opener. 

Due to COVID-19 related concerns within the San José State women's basketball program, the Spartans' originally scheduled conference opener at New Mexico on December 28 was postponed.


 
 

  • Deja Ross scored a team-high 11 points
  • Ella Ogier and Meghan Oberg each added eight rebounds
  • Sammy Shields scored her first collegiate basket on a triple, scoring a career-high nine points and 3-6 from 3-point range.
  • The two teams were evenly matched on the boards, 38-37, with Nevada grabbing the one extra
  • Nevada's 9-0 run in the third quarter gave them a 19-point lead heading into the final frame
  • Audrey Roden, the 3x Mountain West Freshman of the Week, finished with 16 points and Da'Ja Hamilton lead all scorers with 21

San José State hosts Fresno State in the second of a three-game home stint on January 3 at 6 p.m. at the Event Center.

New COVID Entry Policy:

  • All personnel with a SJSU Tower ID (students, staff and faculty) will only have to show Tower ID and ticket for entry
    • Tower ID holders are within the SJSU Covid protocols
  • Those without a Tower ID will be required to show proof of vaccination with their card, a photo on their phone or QR code
  • Fans that are not vaccinated will be required to show proof of a negative COVID test (Age 3 and up)
    • For Antigen tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 24 hours
    • For PCR tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 48 hours
  • The antigen test can include a take-home test, sold at Walgreens, CVS and other pharmacies

Mask Policy:

  • Fans are required to wear masks indoors at all times unless actively eating or drinking
