San Jose, Calif.—San José State University women's gymnast Jada Mazury has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week after her performances Sunday in a dual meet at Denver.
Mazury, a junior from Calgary, Alberta, won the bars with a career-best 9.925, tying four other Spartans for the second-best bars score in school history.
Other Highlights
- First meet competing as an all-arounder and scored a 39.350, tying for 7th-best all-around score in school history
- Received a 9.850 on floor to tie with teammate Lauren Macpherson for the team-high
- Vaulted for the first time in her Spartan career and scored a 9.775
- Added a 9.800 on beam
- The Spartans started the year with a 195.950, the second-highest team score in school history and best score to start a season.
San José State competes at Oregon State this Saturday night in a meet with the Beavers and Washington. The Spartans open the home portion of the schedule on Sunday, January 30, against Sacramento State beginning at 2 p.m., inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. To buy tickets, click here.
New Covid Entry Policy:
All personnel with a SJSU Tower ID (students, staff and faculty) will only have to show Tower ID and ticket for entry
- Tower ID holders are within the SJSU Covid protocols
- Those without a Tower ID will be required to show proof of vaccination with their card, a photo on their phone or QR code
- Fans that are not vaccinated will be required to show proof of a negative COVID test (Age 3 and up)
- For Antigen tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 24 hours
- For PCR tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 48 hours
- The antigen test can include a take-home test, sold at Walgreens, CVS and other pharmacies
Mask Policy:
- Fans are required to wear masks indoors at all times unless actively eating or drinking
